Your donation gives a child who’s been abused or neglected a powerful voice in court, at school and in our community. Your gift helps CASA recruit, screen, train, and support over 110 active volunteers and provides the resources they need to speak up for approximately 130 children each year.

As a result of the changes in the tax code for 2018, you may have seen a reduced benefit from itemizing charitable contributions on your tax return. However, you can still enjoy tax benefits through your charitable giving.
If you are older than 70 ½, you make gifts of up to $100,000 per year directly from your IRA to Anne Arundel County CASA and other charities.
If you qualify, the gift counts toward your required minimum distribution, yet is excluded from income.
A gift of assets such as stock or real estate avoids the capital gains tax liability normally associated with the sale of the asset.
Depending on your income tax circumstances, you may also obtain an immediate tax deduction based on the asset’s current value.
A number of CASA’s donors give through their donor advised funds. Even though the donor received a tax deduction previously, they draw on their donor advised fund to provide a steady stream of annual gifts to CASA. Donor advised funds can be used in conjunction with direct gifts to CASA and other charities in a particular year to obtain an itemized deduction, while giving from the donor advised fund in other years.
Ask your friends to donate to a cause you care about in honor of your special day by starting a Facebook fundraiser! It’s easy to start, and easy for your friends to support your favorite cause.
Honor or remember someone; in addition to normal tax acknowledgement, honorees are informed of the gift and memorial cards are sent to families.
CASA is pleased to be a part of several workplace giving campaigns whereby donations are made through payroll deductions:
Or, see if you can create your own program at your employer.
Many businesses have a matching gifts program whereby they match an employee’s gift to CASA, doubling the impact of your gift. Some companies also match volunteer hours and in-kind donations.
Anne Arundel County CASA is also open to planned giving and other structured gifts. These include charitable lead trusts, bequests in wills or from IRAs, or other approaches. Please discuss this with your financial or estate planning professional. Our advisors can work with you and your advisors to create a “win-win” for both you and CASA.
